Krakow's Sacrum Profanum festival takes place in the Polish capital of culture this month.

 

 

Now in its eighth year, the event – dedicated to contemporary music – is bigger and better than ever before. A week-long celebration of classical music will see the city welcome a number of acts from around the world as well as thousands of visitors to hear see of the best in the business. Confirmed acts for 2010 included headliner Jon 'Jonsi' Þor Birgisson of Sigur Ros fame, the London Sinfonietta, musikFabrik and Theatre of Voices.

 

The event gets underway on 12 September, running for six days until 18 September.
