To honour the famous composer Fryderyk Chopin's bicentenary this year, a tall ship named after the great man will arrive in London in just a few days' time.

The 'Fryderyk Chopin' is scheduled to sail up the Thames on 3 September after a journey from northern Europe that has seen her take in several ports to coincide with the Chopin 2010 celebrations.

Chopin - one of the most famous composers in the world - was born 200 years ago in the Polish village of Zelazowa Wola. One of the great masters of Romantic music, he is credited with inventing the polonaise and the mazurka.

The ship will arrive in London time for the city's Thames Festival that celebrates the famous river that runs through the heart of the capital. The Polish National Tourist Office will take part in the festival and will be joined by partners from the Wielkopolska, Pomorskie and Swietokrzyskie regions.

So, to find out much more about Poland – and the music of Fryderyk Chopin – make sure you head to the banks of the Thames, between Westminster and Tower bridges on 11 or 12 September. Find out more at www.thamesfestival.org
